Restorative Justice
Restorative Justice at TCN
At TCN we pride ourselves on supporting the social and emotional development of our students. Restorative justice focuses on repairing the harm caused by conflicts among students. It helps our community build positive and respectful relationships and puts a stop to creating harm when conflict arises. When coming to a restorative justice circle, students get to address an existing conflict with their peers, express their emotions and unpack the harm caused. Together, students, with the support of an RJ coordinator, come up with agreements and commit to those agreements to repair the harm that was caused. This invaluable process allows our students to learn the skills of how to navigate through conflict and find solutions in a productive and healthy way.
Peer RJ
TCN has created a group of young 4th and 5th grade leaders who play a role in creating a positive and safe classroom community. Our peer RJ leaders hold circles in their classrooms that encourage others to find positive solutions to everyday situations.
